Salad Bowl Gardens Farm Blog

About

A garden that got too big for two, thorough examinations of dishes at fine restaurants, a tomato variety addiction, a mutual dream, a healthy dose of serendipity and the allure of the Truro Farmers’ Market conspired to create Salad Bowl Gardens in 2005.  SBG is owned and operated by Roxanne Beavers and Jamey Coughlin.   We are doing this market gardening thing part-time (whatever that is supposed to mean) and growing slowly.

Farming is a funny thing, lots of torment and lots of rewards. But for every flea beetle infestation and greenhouse construction misadventure, there is the taste of the first blackberry, the world through the eyes of the chicken, the satisfaction of a tilled field and the wonderful community that is both drawn to and nourished by good food.  We are delighted to be knee deep in it all. This blog will document some those adventures, share some stories and try to work through some of the challenges.
